Disused patch of land in Lancing to be transformed into community farm
Released: Thursday, 06 November 2025
A disused patch of land in Lancing is set to be transformed into a community farm.
Shoreham-based community interest company Apron Creative will take a lease on the land next to Old Salts Farm Road in Lancing and turn it into a regenerative community farm where local residents can connect with each other, grow food and learn new skills.
Known as Apron Community Farm, the project is expected to take five years to fully develop and Apron Creative will be working with the community to develop the site.
Initial ideas include regenerative farming features such as a market garden and orchard, as well as sites for wellbeing and therapy sessions, an educational space, an area for a children's forest school, ponds and workshop spaces for traditional craftspeople to share their skills.
The land, which we will retain freehold ownership of, was previously home to Riverside Equestrian Centre, but has been empty since the lease came to an end in 2024. Since then, we have carried out an open expression of interest process to identify a new community tenant to bring the site back into use for the benefit of the community.
We recently held a community information session at Seaside Primary School for residents to learn more about the site. Our neighbourhood team and founder of Apron Creative, Lis Long, explained the selection process, shared the vision for the site, outlined how residents can get involved, and answered questions.

Apron has launched a Crowdfunder campaign to raise funds for the project. To donate or find out more about community sessions, workshops, events, and volunteering opportunities at its Buckingham Park community garden, see:
